This video lesson features a fast-paced, high-energy Garcia second verse solo (circa 1973) from the Grateful Dead classic "Eyes of the World." This is the solo after the second verse/chorus. The chord structure of this solo is a slightly modified version of the first verse solo. 

In this early take on the solo, Garcia is once again moving at a fairly blistering pace, and many signature elements of his style are on display--sequencing, chromatics, phrasing, and creativity. Take it slow. Learn from the substance of what he was doing. Take his ideas and run with them. Practice your improvisations at an easy tempo, and gradually increase the tempo over time.
